Olivia Nucci

My interest lies in the preservation of the past through painting common objects or historic relics. As I am primarily an oil painter, the process of repetitively looking to the source material and the meditative aspect of applying paint allows for time to honor and elevate collective and personal history. I aim to bring the everyday to a level of sacredness through painting.

I primarily look to textiles in the form of quilts as a source of visual   and historical content to inform my pieces. Through collecting    familiar objects by way of painting them, I feel a sense of comfort    and safety that I hope to convey to the viewer. In a world that is constantly overloading it's inhabitants with pressure to be a certain way, I have found the importance in looking to the past to discover my identity in contemporary society.
